Even though the art was simplistic and very adolescent, dont you think the animation, as in the movement, was done very well? It was also pretty funny and very relatable to many people. Combine those elements and you will probably get a high score. Nothing wrong with that. You jealous?

I just watched it and I got to say it was terrible. The animation was incredibly terrible, an Awesome cartoon doesn't mean just drawing one thing every 30 frames and having a characters with large white eyes.

The humour sucked too, it wasn't funny, honestly that was pretty crap.

Movies only get a score of more than 4 if people think they're funny or well-done. It doesn't really matter whether it's a parody or not (although more people can relate to parodies, so the score for them is usually a bit higher).

If that movie you just posted wasn't to be considered funny or well-done by anyone, I assure you, it would not have a score of more than 4, regardless of the fact that it's a parody.

Maybe that's why all of your movies have a score of less than 4 =P

I don't really 'get' people like you.. I mean, the score is so high because of the high entertainment value...

People can enjoy really crappy stuff a whole lot.. but they will always appreciate a more serious and smooth etc animation more (and it's author), even though this may not be reflected in the score....

Just, take a time and think about what most NG users are coming for, this isn't an art gallery, it's all for good fun and entertainment.

Continue your work and don't bother about those things. The only idea I got to fix this mindless voting problem is to give a limited amount of vote grades each day.
e.g.
5 - once
4 - two times
3 - three times
2 - three times
1 - two times
0 - once

Then people would vote accordingly. Now most of them only vote 5 if they like it and vote 0 if they dislike it, because they want to affect the submission score as much as possible.

Here's a challenge for you:

Make a parody movie in three hours and submit it to Newgrounds. Then we'll see whether your point is valid.

Voting systems fine, it's a popular vote system andif the majority of people like idiotic things let them nothing you can do about it. Stop catering to other opinions and just animate what you want because you want too. If you make something great based on your own ideas it will be recognized regardless, maybe not through popular vote, but among the opinions that matter.

Yeah, Unforgotten Realms is one of the best series on Newgrounds. Hard to beat. People know they can't match Schmoopy, so they make Awesome movies which are either loved or hated. Most of them suck. Except for Halo: Awesome Evolved. RubberNinja, I thank you for that. It was soooooo hot.

By the way, 3.6 actually isn't near 4 if you're talking about voting scores. It takes a whole lot of votes to get from a score 3.6 to 4.0 after a movie has passed judgment.

I would consider 'near 4' to be more in the 3.8 or 3.9 range.

Look, he's got a bloody point, people. Now, I'm not going to bad-mouth the fact that it's a parody, because there are some damn good parodies out there. (Shaun of the Dead is a good example. At least in my opinion.) But the fact is that people don't take enough of a risk to make something good, so they parody something and it turns out half-baked overall, but gets good reviews.

And, if I may make a comparison some of you may recognize, this is just like the Youtube Poops: Relying on two main source materials and a bunch of randomness thrown in there. Sure some are good (CrazyCat13), but others are just plain stupid.

Look at it this way. Its a wave of immaturity, inbetween 3-4 years will be a certain large group of people that will think in somewhat of the same manner. That wave was slowly diminishing since now that wave is older and now have jobs and less time to be on the internet. Another wave, being the obvious easily entertained is now within the age range that they have TONS of spare time to putz among the internet and do as they please. If you've noticed that a while back HIGH quality flashes were all over the top 10 easily with maybe one or two quick parody flashes in between. I don't know if any of this made sense, but it did to me :D

I'm good with parodies, as long they make me laugh or are at least well done.

But now that really fastly done parodies are taking over newgrounds it really starts to feel like over used method indeed.

And if we look at the timeline before YouTube was released for internet usage, the voters wouldn't act like that and they would be more critic about things, I believe.

But because YouTube did take over the internet, the people who want to see the original versions of the flashes that are put there without any permission; the voting system got YouTube'd.

As I have noticed that most of the YouTube users give out 5's as long the videos contain something they like, like their favorite game character appearing for one or two seconds on the background.

And if the video instead bashes something that they like, they instantly vote 0 (or 1 because they have the 1 to 5 stars system there).

So, all "cheers" to YouTube users for causing this.

Also, your message would work better if you would have more than one trophy plus submissions with better scores, as most of the users here listen only to what some really popular users say and of course the Staff members.

Remember the flash has only been out for a little while. Right now its score is made up of clicks from users whose motto is "I only view the frontpage and I only vote 5 or 0".

I agree that the score should not be that high but after a while it will settle to its proper place.

Of course, after reading your post I went ahead and front paged Grand Theft Awesome, having learned nothing... But I -DID- at least replace Awesomeraptor with it!

3.6 rounding to 4 isn't the way 'basic math' works on Newgrounds. That's a bit like saying getting a 60 on a test rounds up to a 100 instead of a 0, but it's still a big difference.

Also, why can't you just voice act a movie by yourself? If you don't have a microphone, that doesn't mean you can't make a movie without any voice acting. Most movies on this site don't have voice acting, and they still get top scores. Seriously, make a movie in three hours. If it doesn't wildly succeed, we all shall see who we really should have no faith towards.

I tried very hard to make a series on newgrounds and I realized I was done making flash for this site when Tom Fulp himself said to me "Splash attack was awesome! You should do more of these".

So I packed up Unforgotten Realms. I love newgrounds but the portal simply isn't a place for anyone trying to be original unless you got wicked animating skills.

haha I just watched that GTA4 awesome video. To be fair, this weeks Unforgotten Realms was written the same week GTA4 came out so it may share a joke from that cartoon. WINK.

Oh don't give me wrong I love Newgrounds and really like Egoraptors cartoons. I can understand him both wanting to get away from it but then wanting to go right back to it. I just feel bad that his fame now has to deal with the Madness effect of where everyone wants to copy and parody the style over and over.
